Your training population need to be properly phenotyped and genotyped
The genotype and the phenotype of your training population allow you to select efficient cross for a desired trait, e.g improve yield or protein content
Best Cross are validated with predictive models & database coupled with your phenotype & genotype of your training population. This define the crucial step of Genomic Mating.
Then, it’s time for Genomic selection. The breeding population yielded by efficient parent matting are submitted for genotyping.
At this step, Genotyping allow you to select your advanced lines.
Your new advanced lines are approved by phenotyping of field trial
At this step, a Retrospective Validation can be performed thanks to the predictive model & database
Finally, your original training population are updated with the freshly validated advanced lines, and you’re ready for the next breeding round !
